PsyPress UK Literary Review: Beyond the Will of God

BWG ThumbnailMy psychedelic novel, Beyond the Will of God, was reviewed by the Psychedelic Press UK — a book review site that does exactly what you’d think it does. Here’s a snippet from the review:

“Very few novels come across the review desk of the Psychedelic Press UK. When they do, they tend to be independently published, steeped in the history and popular culture of psychedelics, and David Biddle’s first novel Beyond the Will of God is no exception. However, while a good deal tend to focus on the inner workings of a protagonist’s mind, Biddle’s offering involves a multiple narrative stream, which, like any good mystery, winds its way together for a dramatic, revelatory and thought-provoking conclusion.” <Snip>

Rob Dickins, PsyPress impressario, has to be the world’s #1 expert on all books psychedelic. The site is a treasure trove of pretty much all the books and publications coming out in this burgeoning field of research and commentary. Over the past decade, psychedelic culture has morphed and grown dramatically. Conferences and festivals are being held throughout the world bringing researchers together with enthusiasts to discuss the consciousness exploration potential of altered states. We all know that the human mind has immense, nearly infinite, potential. This field takes the bull by the horns and confronts the mystery of thinking head on.

The sub-title of Rob’s website is “A Rhizome of Drugs, Writing and Festivals.” According to my American Heritage Dictionary, a rhizome is “a rootlike, usually horizontal stem, growing under or along the ground, and sending out roots from its lower surface, and leaves or shoots from its upper surface.” This is the website to go to if you want to find pretty much any book on any topic having to do with expanded consciousness — from mental health research to shamanic disciplines to changing drug laws and societal shifts in acceptance of the psychedelic world. Yes, things still seem to be underground to many people, but the truth is the leaves and shoots thrown off by this rhizome are popping up by the hundreds everywhere you walk. You just need to pay attention.

My thanks to Thomas Roberts, author of The Psychedelic Future of the Mind, for pointing me in Rob Dickins’ direction. Head over to the Psychedelic Press and check out the review of Beyond the Will of God.

And, of course, I highly recommend purchasing my uncommonly wild novel right now. Go to Amazon if you want to get it as either a paperback or an ebook. It’s also available at Smashwords, Barnes and Noble, Powell’s, Sony, Kobo and a number of other sites. Buy it for a good summer read. Buy it for friends. Buy it for other members of your family. And after you’ve read the PsyPress review, check out their other offerings. I think you’ll be quite amazed.
