Lining Up for Flight: “Sound Effect Infinity” About to Lift Off

My new novel, Sound Effect Infinity, will be released on January 23, 2024 (fingers crossed, because you never know about this world we all live in now). It’s a science fiction story about a near-future world where the mysteries of music and sound and human connection are front and center, along with mind control experiments of the CIA, and questions about the power of psychedelic drugs and paranormal phenomena. I’d say it’s worth the read just to see if the author can carry all that off.

Someone said to me the other day, “Oh, a dystopian thriller.” No. Not exactly. Not even remotely. This is a story about why you love music and why, when that song is playing, the world continues to seem slightly magical. This is a story about our love of rock gods and wishing (hoping?) there are other dimensions, and that maybe multiverse theories are real. This is a story that is about breathlessly chasing what we don’t understand and following things so deep underground that it’s possible to pop out the other side–or at least somewhere completely different_.

All of which is to say, my publisher just posted the landing page for Sound Effect Infinity right here. You can read an excerpt from the book (first chapter) by clicking on the cover image, below to the left:

I’d like to suggest pre-ordering at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Indigo, or you can support local and independent bookstores through IndieBound’s wonderful Bookshop.org site. Pre-ordering is a small thing readers can do to help all authors with the online powers that be.

You can also just go to the landing page to see all your linkage options. The Story Plant is initially putting this book out as a hardcover volume. That’s a big deal for any writer these days. It should be a big deal for readers, too. Hardcover editions are getting more difficult to find. If you want to support writers and small presses, buying the book in any printed form and then making sure to feature it on your coffee table (or bathroom counter) is a marvelous form of solidarity.

Make sure to read the excerpt that The Story Plant has posted at their website. You get to meet Lincoln Koufax and see how he gets caught up in some pretty weird shit.

And for all of you interested in preparing an advanced review, electronic ARCs should be available online at the usual sites.
